cyberhome 300s need a firmware update

My parents have 2 cyberhome ch-300S recorders.
One is mfg date march 2004 10s bios and it gets confused a LOT LOL
The other is mfg date march 2006 bios V10 and its great.

I tried to go to cyberhome and dl a new bios for the old one but
cyberhome is NO MORE

is there anywhere I can get an updated firmware for the old unit?

From what I found over there it doesn't seem that there was any upgrades released for the 300s.

sad thing they were a good cheap unit.

If it gets "CONFUSED" a lot, it's probably because the laser reader is getting dirty. Happened to my Cyberhome, and my Sanyo as well. My Sanyo was still under warranty, so I sent it back. Cyberhome I had to open up the box and clean w/ Alcohol + Qtip. Works much better now.

If you are looking for a new and inexpensive DVD recorder then you might want to check out the Magnavox MWR10D6 which can be bought at WALMART for $98.87

I am not saying that this is the "greatest" DVD recorder out there but it probably is the "best" of the inexpensive DVD recorders.

However if you have the money ... the two best models out there right now are the Pioneer DVR-640H-s and the Toshiba RD-XS35 ... the only bad thing is the price. Both models are over $300 and to get the best price you have to go mail-order (try a website like PRICEGRABBER.COM for the best price).

They are out of business. As in GONE ... outta here ... no more.

Your best bet for info including firmware etc. would be the nerd-out forums. (see my earlier post in this thread).

I just bought the Magnavox MWR10D6 but having problems connecting it in line with another vcr player inorder to record family videos to dvd, any suggestions?

What do you mean you are having problems connecting the VHS VCR?

You need to be more specific although there really isn't much to it. Just connect the VCR to one of the inputs and be sure you have the correct input set to "on" on the DVD recorder.

Also be sure to use the A/V out of the VHS VCR ... do NOT use the RF output of the VHS VCR.
