  1. Nero replied to my one of my problems, saying that the version of nero I'm using is out of date and that I should upgrade my dvd writer firmware.

I emailed Acer asking if I should upgrade the dvd writer firmware. They simply said "NO" and a call to their hotline reveal they don't have instructions on firmware upgrade.

How do I upgrade my firmware now? It's dated July 2007
I have a PIONEER_DVD-RW_DVRKD08RS_1.02 on my Acer laptop

Didn't we tell you already NOT to use Nero and to use ImgBurn instead?

This website goes down all the time, but if you find it up you can get firmware here.

Acer doesn't want you to update the firmware because if you make a mistake, you can destroy your burner.

You might also be able to get firmware from Pioneer's website for your burner.

Nero maybe detected, that your burner doesn´t have a write strategy for the disc you are burning. Therefor it recommends an update.

You can still burn the disc. Just choose a lower speed. (4x)
But first check, if an update is available.

I use them both - depends on the burning case. And both are great, if you know how and when to use them.

  4. jman98, I have switched to Imgburn.
That was a problem I encounter right before the swtich a few days ago.

    I've visited Pioneer's website. I don't think I could locate the firmware.

You have too many irons in the fire and your problem is blurred.

I suspect that your burner does not require firmware update and that there probably is none for it, as its dated July of last year. Also, that's what Acer told you. I did a fast firmware search and came up empty.

Nero likes to blame their software burning problems on hardware.

Start over and do some learning and use the suggestions already presented. If you have a problem, then come back with details and specifics and people here will try to help you. But you have to help yourself first. Good Luck, you can do it.

your best bet would be to ask in the pioneer forum at cdfreaks.com or at rcp1.org(server is down though as usual for them).
