I like using windows media player to play videos that are overly bright/dark since the brightness/contrast controls are so easily accessible and usable from the interface. However, since my screen is not perfect 4:3, I would also like to change my aspect ratio on the fly like can be done on windows media classic or zoom player. I have yet to find a player that has these two features nicely integrated. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just want something where I can change the brightness readily from the GUI as well as set the aspect ratio when I need to.

I use the pay version of Zoom player most times. But the freeware KMplayer also works well, though getting to the brightness/aspect ratio controls seems a bit awkward. Zoom pro also plays WMV and works well with Vista. I also like how the volume is easily controlled with the mouse wheel.
I do keep VLC around for odd formats, though getting to the Extended GUI for the video is a bit awkward, especially in full screen mode.
With most any player, you should be able to set up the defaults to your preferences for playback, including video controls.
I never use WMP and never will.
