Router config (D-link)

I am trying to use a wireless router through a DSL router they are both D-link but the computers connected to the wireless router cannot ping the DSL router. They do connect to the internet but i can't get a high speed downloads. D-link said something about making a bridge but they didnt say how. Please help.

check the IP address of each device. there's a good chance they're both set to 192.168.0.1 by default. if this is the case, change the wireless router's address to 192.168.0.2 and try it again.

One of them has a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the other one is 255.0.0.0.
one has a default IP 10.1.1.1 the other 192.168.0.1. although the ip's can be changed, the subnet mask can't be. all the computers have access to the internet but the ones connected to the wireless cannot ping the dsl router or any other computers connected to that router, unless we open a browser and then use the ip address given on whatismyip.com.

look on wireless router, look for for the ip address entered under 'internet gateway'. this should be the ip address of the dsl router, NOT the wireless router. the dsl router hosts the ip addresses for all devices, so you must make the second router look to the first for ip assignment. by default it thinks it's hosting the internet.
this is why it is also important to ensure each device has a different number. usually by default all routers are 192.168.0.1, so multiple routers don't work together out of the box.
