I have been looking at these items on-line today and I think they would be pretty cool. I would love to be able to play my Mp3s on the PSX so I could free up my pc for some encoding time. I use it alot of times to play Mp3 or MPEG files and to have a standalone machine that could handle that would be GREAT. I also like the interface for these devices because I don't really care for the video cable that came with the PSX and I would prefer to just use some higher quality RCA cables of my own. If anyone has any information on these two devices then please let me know how they performed and if I should purchase them or not. Thanks.

Sure have...
Actually, I'm taking a break from watching a Malaysian bought VCD of Aliens 3 on the trusty old PSX(1). The 'Gamers' card even came with an attachment that plugs into the memory slot which enables a remote control. Paid about US$39 for it last November. It allows playing of backup and non-region games and has the RCA out that your looking for. My only complaint is that I also make xVCD movies. Doesn't like any bitrates above 1200 or so, otherwise it takes CDR or CDRW just fine.
If you can find the same one, I'd say GO FOR IT! I think I found mine at a place called 'playstationfun.com' or something similar. I'm sure a simple search could turn it up somewhere.
Oops, forgot to mention. Haven't tried any MP3's on it and the box didn't say it could. If you could find one that did VCD and MP3s, I'd be jealous. -
Thanks for the recomendation. There is another add on that allows your PSX to play MP3s. It's called MP3 Smart DJ. I will try to go back and get the link to the place that sells them. THey also sell the VCD card as well so I can get them both together. The MP3 unit is about the same price as the VCD card, I think $39 when I was on there a few hours ago. I'll be putting my order in for one next week I hope so I can watch my VCDs through it and free up my pc to do other things like encoding more VCDs

The website is called www.videogameaccessories.com and they sell both the video card and the MP3 card adapters for the Playstation. They have some pretty good deals and some other neat hardware as well so anybody interested might wanna check them out too. Take care.
