    Windows Movie Maker can recognize and import my camcorder but WinDV and DVIO don't do anything when I press import and don't seem to recognize the camcorder. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Is it a FireWire or USB camcorder?

    Have you any video applets installed by Roxio, Nero or Pinnacle?

    I thought my follow up message had been posted, guess not -- I didn't realize those apps require me to press play on the camcorder manually to record. It's working now.
