I have a fast Athlon system, big hard drive, oodles of memory,I have a geforce 2 graphics card and a Pinnacle Studio DV PLUS(Dv capture card)with analougue out,but no analogue in!! a panasonic dv Ds 27b camcorder(dv in enabled by reg hack) - basically i need to capture of a VCR or TV with equipment i have, i have tried Filming with my camcorder directly off the screen but when footage transferrred to the PC , the white balance doesnt see write also can see horizontal lines on capture(because i suppoze im zooming in so much) anyone got this techique to work with good results?? which will mean i can transfer all my VHS movies onto my pc and make VCD's- i hope ive made myself clear and peeps know what im on about...but its a very good concept if i can get it to work, sound isnt a prob as i can plug that straight into the pc or camcorder to capture-I have manual settings on camcorder so i can film at 1/5000 of a sec if i wanted to and also manual whitebalance...plz help with any info...or has anyone tried anything similar!!!

  2. Hi,

Try to buy a PCTV, it costs a tenth (US$50,00 or less) of the DV Plus and can get you infinite superior results than the technique you are trying to apply.

  3. If you have a analouge in on you're camera you should be able to connect vcr to camera(analouge) and then camera to PC(dv). This way the camera works as a A/D converter(Analouge to Digital). I know you can do this with some of Sony's cameras.

  7. You only need a $85 PV231 card to make VCD's of good quality. Use almost any PC with an open PCI slot. http://steve.kittelsen.com/pv231

You are never going to get good results by taking a video of your TV screen. Forget it.

You need to purchase a capture card with Analogue inputs OR, capture from TV using the DV in feature, using the DV camera as a pass through which is connected to your computer via a firewire cable.
