Hi everyone, I'm having a problem...

I've been recording events in which the audio of the music is excessively loud... I've lowered enough the microphone level but either way as expected the audio outcome is horrible, too many sharp sounds and excessive bass. What I would like to know is if there is another alternative to recording at least decent audio. I've also asked the equalizer people on the spot to tone down a bit, but still doesn't do much.

I've done mic samples on the camera and the microphone seems to be fine, it only goes bad when there is too much bass or too harsh on the sharp sounds. In addition I do stand far away from the speakers when I record too.

    Thanks for any advice.

Sort of primitive, but I've put a fabric band-aid over the camera microphone opening to lower the levels.

If you have an external mic input, then you may have some better options.

You might want to wear ear plugs yourself, if you value your own hearing.
