I went out yesterday and bought the above mentioned software for 9.99 and thought it was a steal. This program is a bitch to learn and use.The help and tutorials are horrible also IMO.Now here are some questions.I burnt a vob file to a dvd-r and tried to make a menu. The menu came out "cut off",some of the title and picture were missing.Once i tried to watch it on the dvd, there was no audio(was this because i didnt have the AC3 codec installed?) Then when I wanted to make my own chapter screen, you cant and can only pick from there unworthy chapter menues. Can someone point me to a good tutorial for this that has alot of hlp for a newbie like me? I tried looking on google for some and couldnt find any.

    Thanks in advance

Chalk up the $9.99 to a learning experience and throw away the Roxio CD.
Tell us what you want to do and we can advise on the proper software.

Regarding your cut off menu, it's normal, and called overscan. A TV always cuts some parts out, so you have to make sure nothing important is close to the edges of the display.
Regarding your other problems - well, I'd never trust "allinone" converters/editors/authoring packages like this. They are in most cases very limited.
Take a look at TMPGEnc DVD Author or free GfD for alternatives.

Friends don't let friends use Roxio. The $9.99 was a steal - for the people who sold you the software. The only good tool they have is the cover designer feature. Other than that, I wouldn't use Roxio for ANYTHING and I really can't stress that enough. In the words of Bart Simpson, it's "craptacular".

Not sure what you mean by that last part, but if you mean "can I author and output to HDD, then take the output over to another computer and burn it to disk on that one?" then Yes! Over the network, or using a big USB stick or USB HDD or other removable storage.

Roxio Easy CD was my favorite audio CD software back in the day. When they took on DVD burning they crapped out badly.

Roxio 5.5 Platinum was the last good version. TMPGEnc Plus ($37) is a steal, really. I use it in Virtual PC on Mac for things that won't convert natively.
