    hello

    as you can see I'm new here . in general good forum now referring to my question , so I want to hear from your experience what is the best method to convert AVI files(divx,xvid) to dvd including subtitles to DVD ?
    I will be glad if you lead me directly to the articles/

    The best method is not convert at all, but to get a player that will play them as-is.

    If you are asking about converting the 'average' 700MB Xvid/Divx from the net to a DVD, the quality is already gone, so I would agree that ConvertX or the freeware FAVC are a couple of the easiest ways, along with keeping decent quality.

    You 'might' get better quality by using a standalone encoder and tweaking the settings, if you know what you are doing. But fairly often you will run into PAL<>NTSC framerate conversions and MP3 VBR sync issues. And after that you will have to author the encoded file and add the subtitles.

    Yep, convertxtodvd can convert to PAL also. But your dvd player probably support NTSC fine.

    If you display a widescreen (16:9 or wider) format on a TV with a 4:3 display, you will either have black bars or you will have to 'Pan and Scan' and throw away about a third of the viewable video area. A bigger TV display or a newer TV with widescreen display is your other option.
