Hi there,
I have an .avi file here that gives me some problems. I am not overly experienced in fiddling with videos, so please bare with me.
Symptoms are: After starting it in Windows Media Player, it shows the correct running time, but stops after playing the very intro. VLC pretty much does the same, except it doesn't display a running time and it tells me the file is damaged and whether I would like to repair it (which I would, but it doesn't help).
I have tried DivFix++, AviPreviewC and VirtualDub without any luck, apparently there are no keyframes in the file.
Now I really have no idea whether the file is just genuinely damaged or whether it all has to do with a menu being not present (which would logically follow after an intro..).
Can you help me on this one?
Does the following screenshot help?
Thanks!![]()

It could also be a 'fake' file or just badly corrupted. Either way, you are not likely to get anything out of it. There are no menus or chapters with AVIs except for Divx 6 Ultra and your video shows as a Xvid.
Fake files are sometimes made with the freely available trailer footage.
