  1. I have recently downloaded a ASX file that I would like to convert to MPEG to put on a VCD. My problem is that TMPG won't open the file. Does anyone know of a mpg encoder that opens ASX files?

  2. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ASX files are usually a very small file that points to a a media file for internet streaming. Try renaming the extention to ASF. If it still won't load into TMPEGEnc or VirtualDub it might load into windows Media Encoder 7.1. from there you can convert it into an uncompressed video file that you can work with.

  3. Here is an example of an asx file, just open your asx file with an asci editor (Notepad) to find the reference to the original asf file and download that asf file. Then you can convert it to mpeg with tempgenc.
    below the contents of an asx file:
    <asx version = "3.0">
    <title>Eilat_1</title>
    <entry>
    <ref href= "http://www.vankammen.net/Movies/Eilat_1.asf"/>
    </entry>
    </asx>

  4. Try the program ASF Recorder. It takes an .ASX address and records it to windows media. That way you can convert that video to whatever format you'd like. http://www.lemuria.org/mirrors/asfrecorder/

    Hope I helped!
