  1. I have 2 sets of what appears to be regular DVD video files on my HDD. They are not in a VIDEO_TS folder. But, they play just fine on my computer with WMP. I have ripped the audio from the files and have the makings of a good pair of audio CDs from them. But, I still want to burn a pair of as high a quality video DVDs on DVD+/- RWs as I can from these files.
The first set [part 1] contains:
    3 - *.BUP files
    3 - *.IFO files
    10 - *.VOB files
    Totaling 5.99GB

The second set [part 2} contains:
    4 - *.BUP files
    4 - *.IFO files
    11 - *.VOB files
    Totaling 4.6GB.

Putting them into a VIDEO_TS folder and trying to burn them as data won't work, if for no other reason, because they're too big to fit a DVD-RW. And, they are PAL and need to be converted to NTSC.

When I try to use Nero Vision It does fit them on the disc using 4.37 of 4.38 GB. BUT, it balks at actually burning them saying that "Missing function DTS HD DTS HD Decoding... Not supported by Nero...".

My assumption is that the problem is caused because they're a type of HD disc.

Is there another burning s/w that will do the job for me?

    Or...???

THX for any help with this.

You could try ConvertXToDVD and just use the VOBs. Or alternately, extract the MPEGs with VOB2MPG and process them. ConvertX does a fair job of PAL>NTSC conversion. And it's a lot simpler than most of the alternatives. It apparently can also handle some HD formats.

Or do some reading about framerate conversions: https://www.videohelp.com/convert#4;41

You could also try DVDShrink. That Nero error message looks like an error in itself.

  4. OK, Thank you both for your advice. I tried both ConvertXToDVD and DVDShrink. Both did a fine job.
ConvertX worked right of the line for me. DVDShrink did something strange at first. It burned a coaster with audio but no video. It also removed the video from the files being copied. Luckily I had kept the original archive files.

When all is said and done I like the DVDs finally made with DVDShrink's backup process better. They play exactly like the original files do.
ConvertX did something more like adding avi's to Nero to burn a video DVD.

Plus, DVDShrink was quite a bit faster in creating the files to burn to disc.

    Thank you both again.
