  1. My friend ask me to burn a copy of his daughter school concert. So I copy the Video TS folder to my hard drive and burn with Nero v6. But it can't be burn it says DVD video files compliance test failed and shows video ts ifo and bup not present in the nero window. There is also a ULEADDMF folder inside the disc and inside the folder there is a UFO File and DWZ File. Normally I just drag the video ts file into Nero and just burn. What is wrong? Does it has something to do with the Ulead folder. Thank you

Remove everything from the Video_TS folder except the IFO, BUP and VOB files.

Test play whatever is left using Media PLayer Classic by opening the Video_TS.IFO file.

If it plays correctly, burn the results to a quality blank DVD using Imgburn. Select Write File/Folders to Disc from the main menu, then select the Video_TS folder. Imgburn will do the rest, and do a better job than Nero.

Have you looked inside the VIDEO_TS folder in Windows Explorer to confirm there are no IFOs or BUPs? That seems a bit odd. One thing you might try since you have it on your hard drive is to run it through DVDShrink and see if it can clean it up. It may just repair the structure and not re-encode like Nero tries to do all too often, even when the file is compliant.

You could also try just burning the VIDEO_TS folder with ImgBurn and that may work better than Nero.

EDIT: And I agree with guns1inger about removing everything but the proper VIDEO_TS files. Look to the upper left on this page to see the DVD structure in 'WHAT IS' DVD.

Get hold of IMGBUrn if you just want to copy the DVD, and you know it doesn't have any copy protection on it, choose the READ mode to copy the DVD to your hard drive as an ISO image

Once copied, select the WRITE mode and burn the ISO back to another 'quality' DVD. Use good media and spend that bit extra and don't burn faster than x4 and you should have no problems with the result

Faster speeds will produce more risk of not playing on DVD players, is it worth the aggrevation to save 5 minutes

Nero has a very very nasty habit in that it tries to be helpful and alters the actual DVD specs, but ends up making a hash of it and creating discs that won't play or refuse to copy correctly. As you have found out

IMGBurn is exactly that, it does nothing but burn DVDs or CDs and it is very good at it

A lot of people do use Nero with no problems but just as many have had real problems, I don't use it at all anymore its not installed on my computer

There is a reason that people still insist on using Nero v6.xxx .... it works !!
