    2 questions if i may:

    question one

    i have xp machine with 20 Gb drive split in two.
    xp on c: and a disc image of c: created with xxclone on d:

    i have decided to dump the xxclone image and use the disc space.

    having formatted the d: drive, the boot up procedure stills reports and requests a choice of disc to boot from at the bios, the regular c: windows or the d: backup.

    here is my boot ini, what should i alter it to to remove the dual boot option

    [boot loader]
    timeout=01
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S

    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="XXCLO NE: (Cloned Volume) [d:0,p:2] \WINDOWS" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

    question two

    i have a ethernet network setup between two other seperate offline xp machines: wired together with a crossover cable, no routers no nuthin, just two machines and and two ethernet cards. no internet, no nothing.

    if i access the movie folder on the d: drive of machine A and check its properties it comes up as 76.9Gb with 180 files, ntfs, all present and correct.

    if i access the same folder from the network machine it reports the same folder as 8.62Gb and 29 files, and only display 29 of the files.

    whats that all about?

    any light you can shed would be most gratefully absorbed.

    wishing you a pleasant evening/day/afternoon/

  2. 1. leave it alone because it is you backup drive to boot from if C: will not boot.
    But if you really want to, delete
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="XXCLO NE: (Cloned Volume) [d:0,p:2] \WINDOWS" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

    2. check the NTFS and Sharing permissions on the computer that holds the data, sounds like some of the files are "owned" by a user account that is not on the remote PC

    Question 1 is answered. Question 2 sounds like you may have the folder view options set differently on the two machines. Machine A displays all files, including Hidden or System files. Machine B hides Hidden and/or System files. Might not be it, since I can't imagine why any videos would be hidden or system, but it's worth checking.
