    My parents have this a Samsung DVD-1080P7 and it doesn't play my xvids or divx in widescreen? Where as my 5982 does on the same LCD HDTV model. Anyone know why or how to change this?

    The movies are stretched and no black bar on top and bottom....

    It could be that the files do not have the PAR or DAR set correctly (I forget exactly which one relates to standalone playback). You can check the files using MPEG4Modifier.

    It could also be that the Samsung isn't checking the AR.

    There is also a firmware update on the Samsung page. It may be worth checking and/or updating.
