I have several 16:9 video files that I want to put on my iPod, and for me the ideal ratio for 16:9 content on a 4:3 device is 14:9, so the video size I encode to is 320*206. I'm telling ffmpegx to crop parts of the left and right to the extent that would make the original file 14:9, but the thing is ffmpegx seems to skip this step completely, and doesn't crop, resulting in a squashed video. I'll go through an example of what I'm doing, so please don't hesitate to call me out on anything I'm doing wrong.

    Source File: 1024*768 mov

Encode settings: unconstrained autosize, H.264 x264
    Video size 320*206, 500kbps bitrate,
    Crop settings: 0,0,64,64

Now, I hit the preview button next to the crop settings, and, sure enough, it's 14:9. But when I encode, all the information outside the white lines is still there, and the whole thing's squashed. Some help would be appreciated, is there any reason you know of why it would skip the crop stage?
