hi, my mate has a PC, windows XP, 1GB Ram, 512mb video graphics and AMD Athlon 64 Processor, he just bought PES2008 on the PC, the system recommended is all there. While the game is running, it stops quite a bit, I've checked the RAM, only 620mb is being using but the CPU usage is going to 100%

Should he buy a new Processor? will an intel pentium processor work? if not, would it be worth it to buy an intel motherboard and a new processor?

He has 'Everest Home Edition' but some specs dont come up, is there a program that would work on an AMD Motherboard computer as it works on my Intel one?

He may or may not be able to upgrade the processor. He will need to know the make and model of the motherboard. You can then go to the manufacturers website and see the highest supported cpu for that board.

No, you cannot put and Intel cpu on a AMD motherboard. He will have to upgrade the cpu on his existing board, or buy a new motherboard and cpu.

Also, unless this is a home built pc, his options are likely very limited. PC's such as Dell, Gateway, HP, etc. are often not very easily upgraded.

hes got a 'Compaq', so will the Intel Motherboard fit inside his PC case or will he need a new case too?

and is there any software that analyses an AMD PC well?

Likely not, Compaq's often don't use standard sized MB"s. So he will be needing to start from scratch. Case, power supply, MB, cpu and likely memory and a new video card as well. His HDD and CD/DVDROM he will be able to move over. It mostly depends on what type he actually has.

Everest should do what you need. If it isn't, then it is likely a "Compaq" issue and not and AMD issue.

I'd be inclined to check running processes and how well the existing hardware is performing before worrying about upgrading the computer.
Do a good up-to-date virus/adware check, and then look at what processes are running that might be tying the computer up (Norton, Find Fast etc.) before thinking of hardware upgrades. Check the hard disk(s) aren't in PIO mode and have been defragged and aren't nearly full - basically good PC housekeeping.
If that all pans out, then I'd start looking at possible upgrades
