I cleaned up my garage and I now have a fairly large area to work with ... What are some good LCD TVs with tuners that are 30 inches or bigger ... that have VGA inputs.

I've started selling PCs on Ebay and I needed a work area ... and so I cleaned up an area in the garage.

I now have a large area and now I'm thinking it would be cool to set up an area to sit down at and watch movies in my garage .... I've got plenty of Acoustic Research speakers and another Pioneer Receiver for Dolby 6.1 Surround Sound.

So ... what High Def TVs / Monitors are out there that have VGA inputs ... also ???? ... that are decently large.

  2. Samsung LNT xx65 series if you don't have bright windows behind your seating position (they will reflect on the glossy screen). LNT xx61 series if you do. These also have a no-overscan mode so you can see the entire desktop. The smallest is 40" I think. Frys.com has the LNT 4065 right now for $1299. But their prices vary daily. Don't be surprised if it's $1799 tomorrow!

If your graphics card has DVI out a DVI-HDMI cable will work even better.

    This one looks interesting ...

    ViewSonic N3760w

The ViewSonic N3760w ($1,999 list) is a solidly built 37-inch LCD TV that offers easy setup and, with a few minor adjustments, good picture quality. However, I've seen similarly priced LCD TVs that deliver as good (if not slightly better) picture quality while providing a greater selection of A/V inputs, better accessories, and more comprehensive picture controls.

Its little brother, the N3260W, didn't rate especially well at cnet.com:

    http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/viewsonic-n3260w/4505-6482_7-31660099.html?tag=pdtl-list

FWIW, the Samsung LNT 4665 at cnet:

    http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/samsung-ln-t4665f/4505-6482_7-32306311.html?tag=pdtl-list

The good: Flat-panel LCD HDTV produces deep blacks with excellent shadow detail; accurate color after adjustment; clean image; solid off-angle viewing for an LCD; numerous picture controls; beautiful styling.

The bad: Shiny screen collects excessive ambient light; edges slightly brighter than the middle in dark areas.

The bottom line: Despite a shiny, reflective screen, the picture quality of the Samsung LN-T4665F exceeds that of any LCD we've tested so far.

Do you have any issues with plasma TVs? Over about 40" they seem to be the way to go. JMO.

Panasonic makes the best plasmas and they are often cheap on sale.

I have two Samsung LCD monitors and they work well ... is the only reason I'm focusing on LCD units.

I do have a Panasonic 42 inch Plasma HDTV in my bedroom
