I see people constantly telling other people to use VobBlanker
instead of/before DVDShrink. WTF is the difference besides
VobBlanker is more confusing(at least to me)? I don't get it.
What can VOBBlanker do that DVDShrink can't do?
I've tried VobBlanker several times and each and every time
I gave up saying "Hell....this is easier in DVDShrink".

You can completly blank a vts down to like 15k. I really dont care for director's comments and commercials on a backup disc so I blank them and then shrink. It gets you much better compression than just shrinking alone or even reducing the extras to stills with shrink.
Yeah its an extra step but to me it's worth it.Donadagohvi (Cherokee for "Until we meet again") -
WTF,to each his own! I use VobBlanker occasionally...

I usually just use shrink. When I want to remove some title stuff or extras or whatever, I may use title set blanker. Its a small program and is easy to use. But, vobBlanker is amazing in what it does and the control it gives you. That and pgcedit are a powerful combination.

But why blank the extras when you can remove them completely in DVDShrink? I can understand you may want to keep the menu but not have all of the options, then blanking them is a good idea. But why have a menu that links to nothing? Personally, I have no need for menus so just Re-Author and keep the main movie only. I also remove the non-English soundtracks and 9 out of 10 movies don't actually need any compression. On those that do it is minimal.

DVD Shrink cannot remove individual extras completely, it can only replace them with a still-frame.

It can in Re-Author mode if you select the main movie only.

I use VobBlanker to remove FBI warnings, trailers, commercials and other shit the studios seem to think I wanted to pay for having to watch, and to remove the more annoying extras like the "Best Boy's May Have Been" Cut etc that have been used to fill out the empty spaces on the disc while keeping chapter menus etc. If I don't want to keep anything of the menu I go to Shrink immediately.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. -

After shrink I open the dvd with pgcedit and check i there are any faults in the ifo files.
Sometimes DVDshrink make som faults...
If I want to keep the menus I shrink them first with menushrink and after that I use DVD shrink
on the whole DVD.
VobBlanker is a fine program but pgcedit is much more powerful...
