has anyone bought this player,,,i cant find anything out about it,,i know a friend of mine bought a magnavox with divx and some xvids i gave him wouldnt work that worked on my philips,,,anyway just curious about anything about this player,,,thanks

I have been using the DRC290 for a couple of months and find it works very well. It has played everything I have thrown at it, including WMV files. The disk changer works well too. Overall, I think it is a very good player for the price. The other thing I like about it is it has optical, coaxial, S-video, component, HDMI and RCA outputs. Many budget players don't provide the optical and S-video outputs. Picture and sound quality is very good too. Especially on DivX playback.

i took mine back and stayed with another philips,,i think the philips has better piq quality,,plus i had alot of files that said sound incompatible on alot of xvid files ,,maybe coulda found a firmware for it,,but didnt bother lookin,,i did like the disc changer though,but hated the remote
