I'm looking for a definitive description of the audio codec that this refers to,
specifically in using Virtual Dub...I'm thinking it may be a wma coded but
what version and where can one find it...or is there some workaround?
Vdub will not proceed if this decompressor cannot be found...

    Any help is appreciated...l

I think it's WMA3, but I'm not sure. Have you tried installing the WMV9VCM setup package?

0x0162 should mean "WMA 9 Pro".
Not an issue if you have installed the WMP11 runtime files
    (no need for WMP11 itself).

  4. 0x0161 is WMA v2
0x0162 is WMA 9 pro (used for 5.1 multichannel)

You can use Divx WMA Audio to use directly in vdub for the 1st with the vdub wmv plugin, you cannot for the 2nd (nothing works)

The only way for decoding wma pro in vdub is to use in vdub is avisynth + DirectShowSource with WMAudio Decoder DMO installed from WMP11 or the SDK

It's not possible to use directly in 64bit vdub. You need 32bit vdub

64bit apps require 64bit filters, plugins, splitters . So you would need to find equivalents re-written for 64bit

  8. regular vdub gives an error: "replicated_data_lenth is zero"

    *edit
ok, got that fixed - i think i had an old wmv.vdplugin ...
but now says "missing codec" ...
should i uninstall ffdshow x64 then?

Nope, use FFdshow to decode the stream to wav, then lame to encode it back to normal mp3 format and then include the audio in vdob as "Audio from other file..."

Works for me. Unless the audio is broken, that it is...
