I have a GVD 1000 DV recorder connected to the computer. After setting up all the perameters in WMV encoder I put the recorder in play and when I get to the point I want to start encoding I press 'Start Encoding' there is a short pause and then my VCR is sent in to Fast Forward. This runs right to the end of the tape. I cant get it to encode anything.
Any ideas??? Thanks Nick

You might try using WinDV or similar to transfer the video first to your hard drive, then use WMV encoder. My guess is WMV encoder thinks it's a camcorder and is sending codes to the device for 'play', which are being misinterpreted to 'fast forward'.
Or you could see if Sony has a user forum for the device and ask there.
Any specific reason to use WMV format?
And welcome to our forums.
