  1. I use InterVideo WinDVD because it came with my computer, but I used up all its sample "capture a screenshot" options.

    Can someone recommend a simple & free program to capture individual screenshots, whether they be from mpg, avi, or DVD? I already tried CTRL-PRT SCR to no avail.

    Video - Snapshot

    If you are doing this from a recording, you can set deinterlace and aspect modes before the snap.

    For example: 1080i sports caps are a quick snap if you first set deinterlace to field discard. The result will be 960x540. If you need the resolution try bob or mean deinterlace.

    VirtualDub Mod will also capture screen shots from those formats. You can copy it to the clipboard and process if wanted in Paint or similar then save as any format or take a 'snapshot' in .tga or .png or .bmp format. It also has the ability to move one frame at a time or jump to a keyframe.
