    Hi,

    New Sharp Aquos 37inch 1080p

All channels are showing as being in Mono sound, not Stereo.

Cannot change the sound options to Stereo

My friend bought the same tv and his shows in Stereo

I have cable going into digital receiver > vcr > TV

    Thanks for your help

  2. When you say you have "cable going into digital receiver > vcr > TV" - are we talking about a coax cable connected to a cable company service provider?
By "digital receiver" - do you mean a cable company cable box? If yes - do you then have right/left audio cables to your tv from there? How do you feed the video signal to your TV from this cable box?
You need to provide a bit more detail about your source material (cable, antenna, high def. etc.) whether it is going through a cable company box - and exactly how the tv is connected to your source signals and what type cables you are using.

In my setup - my cable company digital box receives the signal from the wall outlet - and sends the digital audio to my home theater via an optical digital cable - and feeds the video to my tv via a hdmi cable (without any digital audio on it at all) - so technically the TV does not see stereo signals at all.

If your system is using coax cable all the way through, try connecting the source coax cable directly to your TV - and tune to a station broadcasting in stereo - and see what you get. Maybe one of the devices in the path you are using is not carrying the stereo signal all the way through to the TV.

Have you considered the possibility that your VCR is only outputting mono?
You'll need to connect directly from the cable source to the TV and see if that's stereo, then try the cable to the receiver to the TV and finally put the VCR in the mix and see at what point you are only getting mono sound.

    Thanks for the info everyone

    This is what is happening

Cable direct to TV...can change sound from Mono to Stereo

Cable to cable digital box, then VCR/TV, the DISPLAY on the tv says Mono, However, going into the cable digital box there is an audio setup section and I can change audio there, even though TV still is saying Mono for some reason.
    Thanks
