I am having very little luck with the conversion process that is available in Ulead Videostudio 5.002. Here is how I am attempting the conversion.
I open a new project and specify the SVCD format so that the proper framerate and size are chosen. Then I go to the Storyboard tab. There I open the avi file that I want to covert. When I go to the Finish tab, the icon for "Make Movie" is not available to use. I can see it but its green bar is "greyed out" and so the tab won't work.
In the few cases where I can get the timeline to show the movie frames in the Storyboard tab, the Make Movie function will work. But I can't normally get the timeline to show the movie frames and the conversion to mpg will not be available.
I am using Windows XP and the DVD plugin for the Videostudio.
Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong? Ulead doesn't have any instructions for avi to mpg conversion.

It has been a while since I have worked with VS5 but when you are in StoryBoard mode there should be a folder and toggle switch at the left edge of the story board. The toglel switch swithes between Timeline and storyboard and folder is used to import your files. You can also drag and drop files from the library. Import your avi file and go to Finish and you should be able to make a movie. The mpeg created will be put in the library. When you Export the mpeg to the DVD plug-in the mpeg file has to be high lighted (selected) and the DVD Plug in selected. I hope this helps. Again, I am operating from memory.
