I recently sent my laptop off to be repaired (replaced heatsink and fan.) But now I got it back my video capture device (Plextor M402U) doesn’t work on it. Every bit of software that I could capture with it crashes. Is there anyway I can find out how to fix it?
It still works on my PC so its not the device.
Also my mini DV camcorder still works.
Edit. It appears to be the USB extension cable that i'm using for some reason. Still doesn't explain why it use to work on the laptop and still works on my PC. (through the same USB extension cable)

Try uninstalling the original software that came with the device , then uninstall the device drivers for it .

Reboot system , reinstall product , reboot (do not connect the device till after all this is done) .

 Try the device afterwards .

Sometimes usb devices can just take a walk , for no apparent reason .

Obviously the mini dv camcorder connects via usb
