Low audio from video?

I recently was installing a DVD drive into a pc but the audio was very low when compared to an audio cd so I thought something was wrong and tried another DVD drive, same result, is this normal or is something wrong somewhere, meaning are video audio and cd audio supposed to play at the same level or will video audio always be much lower in volume when comparing video and cd audio?

How did you compare the 2 discs? If you used different software, check each one's volume level so you get an apples-to-apples comparison.

You might also check your sound card settings. CD audio is likely separate from computer audio. You should see a tab with a bunch of 'sliders' for the different inputs, and probably one for 'CD Player'. Usually if you have a speaker icon on your task bar, you can right click on that to bring up the mixer. Or look for it in your 'Control Panel', 'Sounds and Audio Devices'.

So very sorry for the late reply guys, I did not get any email notifs for this thread so I had no idea of your replies, I only came back now to create another thread and saw your replies, anyway, the person took the pc so I can't do any testing on it, tested mine and both drives sound the same whether I use cd or DVD, this tells me that is is NOT normal to get so different a volume level between cd and DVD audio, any ideas, for future purpsoes what might have caused that situation?
