  2. Have not had a lot of experience with scart connections but I have always seen them work ok
I notice that you purchased this unit from bidtv. This is a UK auction somewhat like ebay.
Can I assume by the post that it is used and has never worked. It might be that the unit is defective. I have noticed that a number of units purchased, used, do not work correctly and have lead users to assume that its the connections or other things at fault.
Can you connect the unit direct to the TV and if it doesn’t work, connect another unit in the same manner.
I should think that the recorder/player should play a commercial DVD, sound and picture. If the Unit Output is connected direct to the TV Input and the proper source selected .

  3. Go to the audio set up page and fiddle about there .. also try connecting it to an external amplifier using phono plugs (white and red).. and of course swap around with the scart cables .. they can work loose or even sit loosely in the sockets.. I have to admit, I wouldn't put yamada in the top tier of Mfrs (more like the bargain basement).. try playing an audio Cd on the unit, or an mp3 CD
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
