Hi! I dont know if this is the right forum, but IŽll give it a shot...
I bought a DVD- recorder with a HDD and it is supposed to play most formats.

This is my prob.. it wonŽt/cant play DVD-9. I tried to speak with LG support but they have
not returned my call. Is there someone out there who knows how to work around this slip?

    Best regards.

Are you talking about recordable DVD DL media or commercial DVD discs that are DVD-9, like "The Matrix" for example? It makes a big difference.

If you are saying that your recorder cannot play commercial DVD-9 discs, then you need to take the player back. It is broken.

If you are saying that the player can't play burnable DVD DL media, then my advice to you is that you MUST UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES use ONLY Verbatim DVD+R DL discs! If you use any other brands, you will have problems. If you use any brand of DVD-R DL discs including Verbatim, you will have problems.

Well... it is a commercial disc (Apocalypto) by Mel Gibson.
It is strange thou, for half a second it says "DVD" on the icon then it goes "Data"?!?!

Could it be that theres a codec out there wich LG has forgotten to put in?
What the h... am I talking about! I should just return the d..m thing for another one.

Tanx for the reply, I epriciated it.

No, this is not a codec issue. Your player is defective. Or the disc is scratched or defective. If you have similar problems with other store bought DVDs, then your player is definitely defective.

Well... I think you are correct in that. I got some response from LG and they have
had som error reports about this issue.
I will get back to this forum about the outcome from LG.

By the way, I will still change the player, and if the new one has the same
error I will tell everyone about it.

So. I changed the DVD-recorder, but stil it is the same problem.
LG will shortly come back to me on this topic
According to LG it should hav full accesibility to -DL aswell.

We will have to wait for the answer.

    This is really strange indeed....
I have tried other DVD 9 films on the player and they all
work,,,.... Why just this particular one?? The movie Apocalypto
seems to be the error here,
"Sigh" . It works just fine on other players so IŽm a loss here.

    Anyone??

I returned the RH277H and still no answer from LG Customer support.
I would not recomend this machine from LG.
Allthough I like LG produkts, their support is moore than poor so
it is not worth it if you get problems.

    Best regards.
