Am posting this topic for my brother who has a 42" Samsung SP42 W3 HFX rear projection TV - Appologies if this is in the wrong place. Anyway, a few days before Christmas it needed fixing. I think it was the convergence board that went on it. It cost £150 to fix and is still not proper. The repair man described it as watchable when he returned it - which it is but only just.

The image is now slightly bigger than the viewing area so part of the picture (top & bottom) is missing - very annoying when watching cricket or darts as the score doesn't show.

Also, the picture isn't straight in places - it's as if it's being pulled up and down at different points along the edge of the picture.

When you access the perfect focus setting it says "No sensor data" and then goes straight back to the TV picture which it didn't do before.

Anyway, have heard that there's a service menu on this TV which is accessable by entering a code on the remote control. Does anybody know the code for this model? I'd like to have a look at the settings to see if there's anything that can be adjusted to fix the two problems listed or at least make them better.

    TIA

    hi andyg

put your tv in standby, then on the remote press
    display then
    menu then
    mute then
    power
you should be in the service menu now, when your in there i would write down the numbers on the right hand side off the screen before you change anything so you can but it back if it is wrong.

    cheers phil
