    I'm looking at buy the HDC-SD1 and have a few questions.
    1. How long does the battery last
    2. How long does it take to convert it's video to normal DVDs
    3. What programs can I edit the video with.

    1) Dunno about the battery life

    2) Depends on your PC hardware - much, much faster with a Quad core system with 2 Gigs of RAM than a 2.4ghz P4 laptop. There's a $35 product by Elecard with will convert AVCHD to 720x480 DV at a very rapid rate, but the quality is terrible. Maybe they've fixed it, but when I tested it a few weeks back, I couldn't believe how bad it looked.

    3) Prolly faster to convert to DVD mpeg2, then use Womble Mpeg Video Wizard to add any final touches to the video. It has the normal fade-out/wipes/transitions effects and only re-encodes those segments of the video that need it.
