I have camcorder Sony HDR SR-7 - High Definition hard drive. I could see very high quality of the movie created by this camcorder directly on TV with connection through component output of the camcorder and component input on the TV. The quality of this movie is higher than any possible way of reformatting this movie with special computer software (this is my experience only). How I understood, the component signal is the high quality signal, which could be recorded by regular DVD recorder (not high definition Blue-ray).
Unfortunately, DVD recorder with component input is not common on a market.
My task is to make high quality movie on regular format DVD disk, which could be seen on any DVD player.
If somebody knows how to make DVD disk copy using component output of the camcorder without losing quality Please help!

If I'm not mistaken, the output is AVCHD 1080p (1920x1080) on that model. However, standard DVD (NTSC) is 720x480
There is no way that you can keep the same quality.
AVCHD is difficult to manipulate, but you can probably frameserve. Check out Soopafresh's guide here: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic346331.html
Good luck -
One of the advantages of HD DVD was that you could put up to 40 minutes of HD material on a standard dual layer DVD without having to revert to standard definition. It would only play in HD DVD players, but it is a feature that bluray doesn't support.

Your camera, Reasonably modern computers with large screens, Blue-Ray and HD-DVD players is about all you got for playback at the same quality. Just not very many around. Authoring and burning tools, as well as editing, are a whole other problem.
Such a hi-quality source can be re-encoded into a very nice DVD for wide distribution. Nowhere near as good as what you start with, but certainly good enough to be impressive.
Hope you are using a tripod or some serious stabilization. -
Unfortunately the output signal was not my actual question, I watch the recordings on the camera on my television using component out/in combination directly from the camera. This signal is not a digital signal but rather a converted video signal with very high quality (i might be mistaken but pretty sure that is right). My question is how to use this signal for recording DVD disks in high quality.

Hello,
If you are dealing with a standalone DVD set-top recorder, then I would recommend seeing if your camera has a SVHS output.
If you have a PC, the first step would be to get the HD video onto your computer without loss of quality. Does your camera have a firewire output? A firewire input can be added to a PC at low cost, and is standard on Macs. This would transfer the data without loss of quality, then there are numerous software tools to transcode the HD video into standard DVD video and to then author a DVD. -

If you bought HDV format instead of AVCHD, you would have an IEEE-1394 connector that can carry 1080i HDV or downscaled 480i DV format.
Many DVD recorders have an IEEE-1394 input and would accept 720x480i DV format.
Your only options (other than S-Video) with the HDR-SR7 require a computer for conversion and authoring.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
