Get a PIONEER 112D or a LG-H62 dvd burner. Check out the PLEXTOR, BENQ, LG, ASUS/PIONEER, LITEON/SONY, SAMSUNG & NEC forums at Cdfreaks.com. Lots of information over there. I have many brands of dvd burners but my all time favorite will be the BENQ drives. BENQ drives are now being manufactured by LITEON since they bought out their optical division last year. You can't go wrong with the PIONEER 112Dor LGH62N.

Performance wise, most of the name brand models are about equal. It mostly boils down to brand loyalty and/or price. Any of the name brands would serve you well.

    Welcome Burn it up .

Get an lg or pioneer ... preferably one that can read all media types .

Theres junk out there , so when you have chosen a select few , do your homework , and search online for problems others may have reported .

Of course not everybody knows why they have a problem with X brand ... that you have to judge carefully .

Lg's are less picky when it comes to no name brand media ... but then you have to watch that to .

Mines not shown any issues with the local "no name" stuff , but if its really important , its verbatim all the way .

My number 1 peice of advice would be to buy locally , if it stuffs you about , take it back asap for exchange .

    Number 2 :

Just because it was new , and on the shelf when you got it , dosent mean it is ... may have been there for many months and firmware could be out of date .

Yeah,I've brought my Power supply,CPU,Video card, and CPU Cooler all from newegg.com & tigerdirect.com.They're both good and reliable.

Most likely I'll buy a LG or Samsung.Being, that I'am planning to buy two burners.I'll buy one of each brand.I've currently got a Lite-on LH-20A1P installed in PC right now. It's a 20x writer;it's okay.Just seems so plain!
