    whenever i finish burning a DVD with my new Sony VX-525 i cant play the DVD on anything but the Sony DVD player that i created it on.

    like i transfered a few old home videos to DVD.......after the DVD finished recording i went to pop it in my computer to watch but my computer says there is nothing on the Disk. i know its burnt on there. u can see it and it plays fine on the sony DVD player.

    what am i missing?

    You finalised the disc, didn't you. Although most manuals try to make this very clear, it is missed by a lot of users. My Pioneer actually tells you at the end of a burn that you need to finalise to play the disc elsewhere.

    Remember this for future use: Some DVD players are picky about recordable media, so be sure to use quality media like Taiyo Yuden. Furthermore, some DVD players don't like recordable media at all (especially the older players). For higher compatiblity, you might want to try ripping your recorded discs to your computer and re-authoring them with TDA or other authoring software.
