  2. You can't figure out the cable ends, or what?

Would you like to see output from every piece of video equipment ever made?

Short story - S-Video is almost always better. It depends on the particular piece of equipment being evaluated. Test what you have and make your own decision. There is no better answer. If you don't want to spend the time, just use S-Video.

  3. I want sample outputs. Like screenshots of the video. I want to decide if I am using s-video for my xbox 360.

And can somebody tell me the best usb video capture device under $100? I am currently looking at the dazzle platinum.

The XBox keeps luminance and chrominance separate, so does S-Video hence S-Video is the better connection. Composite mixes Luma and Chroma on the same wire. That requires an expensive comb filter decoder to reseparate luma from chroma.

What can go wrong? Plenty summarized as cross color artifacts.

    Here are some.

Basic rule is the more detail present in the video, the more the problems for composite NTSC.

If you want better than S-Video, try analog component YPbPr for a superior viewing experience.
