  1. OK, i know it can burn movies BUT not like it should
    I have both v 5048 and 5564 ok
In 5048, when u fill the compilation completely up and burn cd, it shows it burning in between 800-802 mb on an 80 min cd.
Also, in v 5048, it read files by file size and not by duration.
As if u were making an xvcd with lower settings, it would say its duration is lower just cuz its file size is.

Now in 5564, it reads EVERYTHING by duration.
I tried burning same video with 5048 in 5564, and it says i do not have enough space on cd-r!

Something has changed in nero v 5.5+ and does anyone know how to fix that?

  2. I have noticed somethin else too

Even if the movie is in standard format, it still thinks its some humungous file.
You think i should try making an image, well that probably wont work since it thinks u cant burn 800 mb onto a 700mb cd

  3. from Ali VCD cd1 (tcf) duration - 79:22
    MPEGAV\AVSEQ01.DAT 840310844 1-23-2002 21:34:27
burned with nero 5.5.6.4 on a HP9100B CD writer at 8x

does this problem persist with more than one blank CD? its possible the blank is bad.

have you changed any of the defaults since install? i know the install defaults will burn an 800 meg VCD

if you are trying to burn a XVCD have you turned off the standard compliant CD option?
    peace out,

  4. dude, i try to burn a movie in xsvcd format

Its 100 min long and file size is 794 mb!!
When i import it, it shows it as being over 90 min and file size all of a sudden jumps up to 1 gb!

  5. The pack size is probably wrong... Remultiplex with bbMPEG to fix.

  6. I dont think so though, virtualis

This has been a problem with ALL videos I have imported.

See, i have tested v5048 vs 5564 and i can import 1 vid clip and when i import the SAME one in 5564, it makes it larger and fills compilation up more.

Now, maybe nero 5564 can be hacked but i do not know how to do this if possible but this is what i mean by "hacked."

Is there a way to MAKE v 5048 read my cd burner.
I have a LiteON 32x12x40x and of course its not supported with v 5048.

I have tried replacing the cdrom.cfg from 5564 in 5048 dir but that didnt work.

If you don't think so then give some evidence as to why so that the problem can actually be sorted out! As far as I'm concerned, all the info you've posted still point to the fact that you have a problem with the pack size.

The newer versions of Nero are a little bit more concerned with the correct specs and will pad a video stream with the wrong pack size. For an X/S/VCD, this can lead to greatly enlarged file sizes.

  8. I am having the same problem with 5.5.6.4. I have a XVCD I created with TMPGenc that is only 715MB. It will not burn the VCD because nero thinks it is 81 minutes long. If I trim a little more off the file so that it reports under 80 minutes, then it will work.

So, what's the problem? I thought that a 800MB mpeg would fit on a 80 minute CDR. The actual movie length is only 45 minutes long.

Vitualis - you said something about "pack size" in this post. What are you refering too? Is it the system stream setting? BTW, what should the system stream be set to in TMPGenc if I am encoding a VBR xVCD. I have been using "automatic", but should it be "video-cd non-standard" or "vbr". I just haven't seen anything that specifies this, and I think it may be the root of our problem...

    Thanks,

  9. I figured it out! It is the system stream setting that makes a difference. I was using "MPEG-1 System (automatic)" and NERO reported this as a 87 minute CD.

Instead, use "MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard)". Now NERO reports it as 76 minutes, so it will fit on the 700MB CDR.

In both cases the mpeg files were the same size, 749MB. I assume that I should be able to make a 800MB mpeg that will fit now.

  10. That was exactly what I was referring to, awhiteguy.

For XVCD, you should multiplex with TMPGEnc on the MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard) setting. This will create the correct pack size so that Nero won't mindless pad your file (significantly increasing file size). "Auto" is the WRONG setting.

For XSVCD, you can do a similar thing with bbMPEG.
