    Hi

I have some very rare VHS tapes coming in the mail that I ordered.
Since they're from back in the early 60's & 70's,
they may not have a block on them, but in case they do,
I'm wanting to transfer them and burn to a CD to preserve them.

Can anyone, or does anyone know how to remove
the block off a VHS tape?
Any help would be so greatly appreciated!!!!

    Thank you in advance

I don't think VHS existed back in the 60's.

The copy protection of which you speak can best be removed by a full frame Time Base Corrector, however there are numerous cheaper alternatives that claim to work as well.

If these tapes are truely of value to you, CD will not do them justice.

VHS didn't exist until the late 70s in Japan. Anything before that would be Ampex or some other long-lost magnetic tape format.

As mentioned, use a TBC and make DVDs.

Or get one of the few capture devices that don't care if it's protected. Hauupage is one, ADVC 100 with the button hack, the 110 it's replacement is iffy. I've read conflicting postson wheteher it works or not. Ironically I have one and keep forgetting to test it when I get it out.
