hey guys
so i'm trying to help one of my parent's friends with his videos taken on trips etc. i'll try to be concise as to not waste anyone's time :P
the problem (this occurs when transferring over firewire, through the tv/vcr when connected through rca video, and even on the lcd on the camera when looknig closesly) is that the video seems like its broken up into 4-6 horizontal blocks, and when the image moves quickly, these blocks lag behind some of the others so that the picture looks distorted. (seems fine if motion is slow) also, the audio seems weird...kind of like an echo etc.
is there a setting which fixes this? a filter or something? is this a problem with the recording? with the playback? i have no idea..and it gets pretty significant if the camera holder moved quickly
i believe it's on dv hi8 tapes
thanks guys

hi8 is analog not digital. but i think that cam is digital8.
first i'd try a head cleaning tape. if it's still there after, then try playing with a different cam. if it's there on play back with another cam, then it's on the tape that way and can't be fixed.
