  1. Just browsing thru panasonics website looking at their dvd recorders and came across this statement
Panasonic is introducing four new DIGA series DVD recorders, the DMR-EX87, DMR-EX77, DMR-EZ47V, and DMR-EZ27 - that offer 1080p image quality in both recording and playback,
Now I'm fairly certain that none of these recorders record in anything better than std def, which is most certainly less than 1080p.. in fact I don think there is such a thing as a 1080p recorder on the market. Am I missing something or is this blatant lying, on their Uk website. This AFAIK constitutes a breach of the advertising rules? Hard to believe its a genuine mistake...

Bring it to panasonics attention if needed..

What I was really looking for was confirmation that the ex77 can playback divx/xvid files.. seems Uk models cant, Euro models can

I haven't seen a DVD recorder that records progressive. They are all 480i or 576i.

Someday we will have a HD or BD recorder that might have 1080p. Who has a 1080p source to connect to it?

There is a 1080p recorder, the HDCAM-SR. It can record RGB, 24fps 1920x1080p but is rather expensive.

  3. I think it is a mistake. Before you get to that page, it shows this,

and on the same page further down,

All the references to upconversion and the standard dvd media ( no HD or Blu-ray ) makes it pretty clear what it can do.

The US web site has mistakes that understate what these recorders can do. For example, here is what they say is the recordable media for these recorders,

There is no mention of DVD-R DL or DVD+R DL but they can record to both. I have tested one. There is a glitch at the layer change. The only recorder I have tested that handles the layer change perfectly has been an LG RC797T. It was flawless.

  5. I tested the DMR-ES37VK and posted the results to this thread,

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic279460.html

Only the DMR-EZ27 and EZ47 models have DIVX playback capability according to this link,

    http://www.videodirect.com/panasonic/dvd/dvdrecorder.html

I found the operating manuals have reliable information. Their web sites are not that accurate.
