I have a Dell Dimension 2350 with almost a gig of ram now but when I try to download my videos from my Sony HDR-UX1 my display corrupts. Dell sent me the latest drivers for it but they were older than the ones I have.
    Any help?
    Thanks

This is an AVCHD camcorder. That means the file is MPeg4 AVC.

Corrupts during download or when you try to play the file?
If playback what are you using to play the file?

My display corrupts when I am downloading the videos I have made and won't allow me to finish the process.

Odd that. You can access your files off the DVD.

When I plug in my camera it pulls up a Sony program and starts to download them. When it reaches about the fourth one my display goes funky.

    I'd call Sony support.

Sounds like they left the fixit process up to you.

I would just try to download on a diferent computer
and based on those results I would chase Dell or Sony.

I have slept on it and have come to the same conclusion. I think I will buy a new PC and download on it. This one is four years old anyway(antique)! Thanks for the help.

I'd suggest something other than Dell or Sony.

I had similar problems with hdr ux1. Bought an external pioneer usb dvd burner and it works fine with the ux1 discs. i also have a dell dimension, 3 ghz pentium 4 with a gig of ram. curious what you ended up getting and how it handles avchd using picture motion browser or editing software.
