  1. Using Adobe Premiere, I'm capturing & editing my DV videos. Instead of using Premiere plugins, I'd like to use external encoders to convert to (S)VCD. Now for the problem:
When exporting the movie, I use the "Microsoft DV AVI" option instead of "AVI" as this is TIMES FASTER. When I try to process the resulting AVI file using any encoder, I get the error message stating that the source file cant be opened (though I can play it using the Mediaplayer).

HOW CAN I RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM ????
    Thanks in advance

  2. TMPGEnc does not officially support import of Type1 DV AVI (DirectShow) format but does support Type2 DV AVI (VFW) format.
Instead of exporting to an AVI file from Premiere instead you could frameserve to TMPGEnc with AVIsynth. See the how to here:

  3. I also use Premiere and TMPGEnc with DV AVI and remember I had this problem also. I solved it by installing the MainConcept demo codec. This codec adds a "watermark" when it encodes but does not change anything when decoding. TMPGEnc was then able to read the DV AVI files.
