Question about using Sony VRD-MC3 DVD Recorder to record live music from mixer output--
Product info page here
obviously intended for DVD and VHS/Camcorder --> DVD recording...
But i'm wondering, could I just go out of my mixer into the audio inputs, burn a DVD in realtime, and then demux the audio out of the MPEG data that gets written to the DVD?
Anyone have any experience with this or see any red flags in what I'm describing?

for posterity/reference sake, i've learned that the compression on this unit makes it undesirable for music recording. i'm going to be looking at something else for my music/audio recording needs.
what i'm still not sure of is whether the unit can physcially handle just an audio and no video input, but it's academic at this point...
