Hi Everyone,
This is my first post and unfortunately its because of a problem I am having.
I just recently put in an In Dash dvd player in my car and I am having some minor problems.
I burned several music vid discs using nero vision and threw about 20 vidz on the disc and went to go play it in mine and the the video plays fine except i cant go to the next track the dvd player basically shows it like in invalid option at the time. When I burn the vids they are separated indepently as separate tracks like an audio disc. When I go to play it in my buddys dvd in dash player which is an alpine it allows him to go to the next track like normal but in mine it wont. So I burnt a disc using nero express vcd disc and the quality is worse but yet when I do it that way it will let me go to the next track. So my question is why is it doing that and is there a way to create a disc as dvd so the quality is good as it can be and allows me to go to the next track....help is greatly appreciated. I can explain more detail if needed. My in dash is a kenwood kvt719
thank you

Hi, and welcome to VideoHelp.
Generally, Nero is one of the worst apps imaginable when it comes to do anything except burn data to a disk.
Try something better, like convertx2dvd for a oneclick solution.
/Mats -
Well mats I actually used convertx2dvd also yesterday and it has the same symptoms it wont allow me to go to the next chapter....I checked most settings but normally I wouldnt need to change anything for it to playback as separate chapters.....but like I said it wont let me go to the next one at all i have to wait for the video/song to finish....I am thinking about trying roxio but any other advice...?

Does it do this on pressed store bought DVD's also?
If so it's the player. -
It could be a lot of things besides Nero, but I agree with Mats that Nero is not helping here.
Your player may have problems with your media. It could be the type of media (it may work better with +R and you're using -R or vice-versa, it could be you're using rewritable discs and it doesn't like those much) or the brand of media (you may be using some cheap crap media and better media would work fine). It could be an issue with your player where it just doesn't like burnable media period and that's why it won't skip to the next track. It could even be that you did something wrong in how you made the DVD. You haven't really told us a lot about what you did, but it seems that you burned a data disc because your statement about how the tracks are stored as separate tracks is totally wrong for DVD, so maybe the problem is that you are burning a data disc and not a DVD. You say that VCD works, so that makes me think that you may be trying to play data discs and that probably won't work. I have yet to see any in dash DVD players that support videos on data discs. I'm amazed that it will even play the first track. If I'm right, converting to DVD may solve your problems and none of the stuff I mentioned earlier may be the real issue here but it's just that you burned a data disc and you need to make a DVD. -
I hear what your saying jman.....I have created a dvd disc though because with convertx2dvd it converts the files to dvd format then burns them. So in that case it is a dvd and it will not skip to the next track when I try.....I am using Fujifilm media pretty sure its +r but I dont know if that would be the issue are far as going to the next track but you never know. I have tried to put in a store bought dvd and I can do to the next chapter no problem at all...

ryangfm - Your last post was very helpful. It's good to know that store bought DVDs work OK for you. I hate to tell you but in-dash players aren't known for being friendly to writeable media. You don't say what model you have, but I'd guess it's a media issue. It's good to know that you say you did make a DVD and that still had problems so we know the problem is not that you made a data disc but it's some kind of disc issue.
Fujifilm is not the worst media, but generally it's not regarded as one of the best either. Try to find Verbatim. Taiyo Yuden would be even better, but you'll have to mail order those. You could hopefully find Verbatim in your local Best Buy or maybe even Circuit City. If you can burn both DVD+R and DVD-R, try the -R discs as they usually have slightlly better compatibility than +R.
I would advise burning your DVD to either Verbatim DVD-R or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R (you can order from http://www.rima.com) and see if the better media and use of DVD-R is the magic you need to make it work. -
At a wild guess, every video is being burned as a new title, and the Next button often doesn't skip titles by default, it skips chapters. They are not the same thing. Navigation of VCDs is a different matter, so the fact that VCDs do what you want it meaningless. Most one-click solutions (NeroVision, ConvertXtoDVD etc) add files as titles because it is simpler to implement.
I suspect if you put all the clips into a single title with chapter marks at the start of each clip you would get the effect you are after.Read my blog here.

Although it still could be a media issue, guns1inger's suggestion has a higher probably of being right than mine and you won't have to buy new DVDs to try it out.

hmm very helpful i will try then when I get home....so im not sure off hand at the moment on how to add all files under 1 title but I may be able to figure that out....only reason I say this is because once I add the files i want say around 20 it automatically separates them so how would I make them as one title?
-
Ok awesome another quick question moviegeek is there an easy quick way to create chapters at the end of each video or do i have to do it manually....if so how can i decipher where to put in each chapter
-
Try the trial version of TDA3. It will let you add them all to one title or a seperate titles.
Even has a prview function built-in.

Ok I will try both suggestions...thank you all very much i will let you know how i make out and hopefully solve this nagging issue.
-
just so you guys know the advice worked using nero vision appreciate it alot....p.s I noticed that the volume on each video could go up to 200% should i put it up to that instead of 100%
-
seems fairly loud but my deck has to be up almost all the way....u think if i go like 125% i could run into problems?
