Supposedly 1 pass encoding on version 2.5 has been optimized so that using 2 pass is no longer needed. Has anyone done a comparison between the two? Is one pass just as good as two passes would be?
Thanks,
Mark

I actually have a few issues with 2-pass these days. Its sometimes fails so I only get a fraction of video where 1 pass works. I think I read about this somewhere else?

The version of ffmpeg is the latest and there have been many improvements to the encoder. Also different settings are been used. That said, different source types may give different results (v2.1 v v2.5) - action, animation and so forth, so when you compare - compare like for like.
