Hi could any one tell me if this dvd player Philips DVP5960 has playback? like when u stop the dvd turn off the power and play it again later it resumes were it left off or when u swap dvds out and then put them back in and resume were it left off? cause i bought a rca dvd player with hdmi and as soon as it powers off i got to start the dvd all way back from the front and that gets really annoying as to my ponnier dvd player no hdmi it will resume even if the dvd is tooken out of the player.

Im think of buying a hdmi ponnier but it dosent have the option to play avi and the cheapest i found it was $89

  2. Someone posted that when the 5960 says loading then hit the play button and it will resume if the same disc. Supposedly that only works if you hit play while it says loading too. I haven't tested that feature on DVDs yet. I am pretty sure it will never resume when you swap out discs. The only time I've seen that is PowerDVD on the computer where it is an option.

Pioneer have the best resume feature that I have seen. They can resume to menus or titles, and usually store several disc positions.

My LG, on the other hand, just stores the last time code in the last title played on the disc. No to clever. But I didn't pay for it, so i can't really bitch. If it was my money involved, I would only buy Pioneer for playback.

i cant get this player to resume at all. Tried hitting play while loading, but it just starts it from the beginning. VERY annoying. Why cant i turn off the stand by crap???

edit: nevermind, got it, was holding the play button, but got it to resume by just pressing it.

Why couldn't they just give a quick dialog at startup asking if you want to resume? It was months before I realized the player had a resume feature! And resume isn't supported with Divx files.
