Hi-I have a Technika DVDR2005 (Tesco)-same as Yamada 8400x. After performing very well for a year, it is now unable to read any disks. I keep getting error message, "No Disk". I've stripped and made it sparkling clean in showroom condition, but no luck. Has anybody had the same problem? How I could get this dream machine back on the road. Any help and hints would be much appreciated.

Yamada product quality sucks. I think the sweat from the workers gets on the components. I still have a yamada 6100 but none of the front indicators works, the only way I know its on is to open and close the tray. Its ok, but I yearn for something with a bit more quality and reliability.

Bonjour Tomkittenuk, pour répondre à ta question, a number of recorders can be made region free by opening the hidden region menu, try the following;
1) press set-up
2) cursor down and sit on "exit"
3) press the following numbers, 2-9-6-0
4) choose region 0 and exit
Bonne chance

My impression of yamada is that they are, or will be quite a force in CE, I think they are an chinese company trying to rival the jap/euro companys but are not there yet on user interface or quality.. the prices are good but replacing a unit every two years is not my idea of consumer friendly. I want a good quality unit to last for ten years with a good, usable interface so I will stick to mainstream mfrs from now on.
