when using one off the above tools for converting hdv to standaard dvd, is the output dvd going to be better then converting dv to standaard dvd?
Will I lose video quality?

You will lose video quality when converting HD to DVD. Maybe time for a HD-DVD writer and HD-DVD Player ?

You have to loose quality simply because to convert to DVD you have to throw away 75% of your video data (resolution). You can influence just how much quality you loose by your choice of software. ConvertXtoDVD is great for taking average quality Divx files and creating DVDs. However it is not the highest quality encoder, and will produce much lower quality results from your source than other options.

You are better off looking at a good editor that has the mainconcept encoder built-in, and using that for your encoding.

I am thinking of buying the Sony HDR HC7, but I have only a standaard jvc dvd player.
