I have since 2007 a HDV-videocamera. I have no blueray-burner. The first year I imported the tape to my PC twice and made both DV(avi)-files (for DVD) and HD-m2t-files for use in the future. The last years I have only imported and edited the m2t-files to avoid to edit twice.
However I have had big problems with converting the m2t-files to a DVD-format. This is because the resulting film has been very much deteriorated. The colors are ok and the picture too if I am not moving the camera. However at the smallest movement the picture is blurred. This is of course not the case if I import in DV-format.
I have tried different ways.
In vegas I have e.g. converted m2t to AVI or DVDpal-mpg. Then I have burnt a DVD with Nero.
I have also tried to burn with DVD Architekt. All results were not very good. The best was AVS videoeditor but I could not use that as I could not make the DVD as I wanted.
Then I tried to convert my HD-file to a DVD-file with AVS-videoconverter. This gave the best DVD.
I have also received some files from an AVCHD-lite-camera. These files were much better with good quality if converted to DVD-format
Are there someone who have had the same problems with HDV-files burning a DVD. Or is the only way to create a good DVD, to import and edit in DV-format and HDV-format separately?

i usually get great results from HDV source to DVD. i'd say you maybe are having a field order problem. DVD and miniDV are usually bottom field first and HDV is top field first. make sure when you render HDV to mpeg-2 that you specify TFF as encoders normally default to BFF for DVD. dvd players can handle both tff or bff.

I thought the programs took care of these matters. I can see in Vegas that a hd/m2t shows as upper field and a dvd/mpg shows as lower field. Suppose I have to use AVSvideoconverter as long as I cannot make a blueray.
