Pioneer DV-440 and region hack

Hi,

I recently bought the Pioneer DV-440. I was reading and somewhere someone said that this unit, as is, has some codes that will make it region free without having to do any surgery, so to speak.

VCDhelp's dvd hack page has no info. Does anyone here?

Not that it is a big deal, I can get most of what I want in region 1 but a friend owns some other region discs that I would like to borow

My dear VCDHelp Friend,

as a matter of fact, I posted that topic already a couple of times and never received a reply. Some people refered me to the hack of the DV444, but it did not work for me. Also..to change the country code is possible, does not change the region code thou.
We are pretty much screwed. I actually bought that machine after the store-dude told me that there are a lot of hacks out there for that (what a farthead).
Unfortunatey, the first time I was able to test a region 2 DVD, I passed already my 30 day return right.
Really nice DVD player....hope we have a hack somewhere soon.
Please let me know if you hear anything somewhere.
